The Clacton Airshow is a free annual two-day event held in Clacton-on-Sea, on the Essex coast. For the 2025 edition, it will take place on August 21 and 22. The show is known for its impressive aerial displays, including teams such as the famous Red Arrows and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, which pays tribute to World War II aircraft including Spitfires and Hurricanes. There will also be ground entertainment and food stalls to complete the experience.
One of the highlights of the event is a twilight display followed by fireworks, which will take place on Clacton Pier after the evening flights. The beach and waterfront provide an ideal backdrop for watching these spectacular aerial performances. It's advisable to bring hearing protection for children because of the aircraft noise, and to be well prepared for the long days in the open air (sun cream, water, suitable clothing).
This event attracts many visitors, and it's advisable to find out about transport and parking options in advance. Clacton can be reached by train, car or even ferry via Harwich International Port.
