The Jersey International Air Display has established itself as one of Jersey’s must-see events and one of the finest free air shows in Europe. Held annually since 1952—first under the name Battle of Britain Air Display before being renamed in 1997 to welcome international participants— this event turns a weekday into a day of celebration, with children having the day off from school and markets closing in the afternoon. The upcoming event will take place on Thursday, September 9, 2027, in Saint Helier, along the Saint Aubin Bay promenade.
The stunning Saint-Aubin Bay provides an exceptional natural amphitheater that attracts tens of thousands of spectators, both residents and visitors. During the four-hour air show, the public can admire a wide variety of aircraft spanning the ages, ranging from high-speed jets to venerable warbirds, as well as classic aircraft and local talent. The site’s unique geography, characterized by strong tides and sheltered waters, also allows for the combination of aviation and boating, with the historic presence of seaplanes performing spectacular water landings and takeoffs, such as the De Havilland Beaver and the Dornier DO24.
The event isn’t limited to the aerial show and also features two major static aircraft displays, one located at Jersey Airport and the other in Lower West Park in Saint Helier, right next to the main arena along Victoria Avenue, where spectators gather to listen to commentary on local radio. Festivalgoers can also enjoy a gourmet market featuring local delicacies in Lower West Park. Organized by a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting British service charities and the local tourism industry, this event relies on the support of partners, institutions, and the generosity of the public.
