The Festival of Flight has established itself as one of the UK’s must-see aviation events. Held at the historic Old Warden Airfield, this event features two full days of aerial and ground festivities, bringing together both the famous aircraft from the Shuttleworth Collection and guest aircraft from across the country and abroad.
The program of events centers around two sessions of spectacular flights. Gates open at 9:00 a.m., with the first series of aerial demonstrations beginning at midday and ending in the late afternoon, while a second evening or twilight session rounds out the day until 9:00 p.m.
On the ground, visitors can enjoy a wide range of free, family-friendly activities. The site features a carnival, fun and educational discovery areas for children, demonstrations of historic engines and steam engines by Clayton & Shuttleworth, as well as an interactive hands-on experience with a Bofors anti-aircraft gun. Visitors can also explore the local heritage by touring Shuttleworth House, relax in the Swiss Garden, or ride on vintage buses. Guided tours of the flight line are also available, offering a close-up look at the aircraft before the in-flight demonstrations.
