Southern Knights Formation Team

The Southern Knights formation aerobatic team was formed in 1997 and has since participated in numerous airshows throughout Australia. The team is made up of some of Australia's most experienced warbird aviators and includes Guy Bourke, Doug Hamilton, Steve Death, Peter Clements and Darcy O'Connor. The Southern Knights perform a precision display that showcases the skills required to fly in tight formation. The four-plane formation is made up of privately-owned World War II T-6 Harvards/Texans. The T-6, often referred to as "the pilot-maker", is a single-engine advanced trainer aircraft used to train pilots for the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, Royal Air Force and other British Commonwealth air forces during World War II and the 1950s. Designed by North American Aviation and powered by a 600 hp Pratt & Whitney radial engine, the T-6 is known by various names, depending on the model and the air force. Over 15,000 of the various models were built during a ten-year production period. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
