Sport & Collection was created in 1995 by Jean-Pierre Doury and his team of volunteers. Sport & Collection" is a non-profit association under the French law of 1901.

Starting with 250 GTs in 1995, including a dozen Ferraris, the event grew rapidly with the support of the Club Ferrari France, and after "100 Ferraris against cancer" in 1999, the event's subtitle finally reached "500 Ferraris against cancer" in 2009. By 2022, 1,050 GTs had been welcomed.

For some years now, the Patrouille de France and other representatives of the French armed forces have been involved in the Sport et Collection - 500 Ferrari contre le Cancer.
